Family Partner · What Happened After We Deleted "What is 1+1?"
"I used to quiz my child on math the moment I got home. After the partner meeting, I replaced the daily quiz with 'anything fun today?' — a month later, he started sharing classroom stories on his own." A real record from a Yoosen family partner.

This is the first parent story in our "Family Partners" column — a mother from the Primary Readiness class at Sanyang Campus, recording what changed at home after the partner meeting.
Before: The Daily Quiz
Honestly, I became anxious the moment my son started his final kindergarten year. My first words after work were always "What is 1+1?" or "How do you read this character?" If he answered, I relaxed; if not, I couldn't sleep all night.
At the meeting opening, the host asked: "Do you often catch yourself asking your child: What is 1+1? And when they can't answer, does your heart skip a beat?" The whole room laughed — I wasn't the only anxious one.
After: A Different Question
The teacher said: starting today, delete that question from your daily quiz. Leave it to our professional team. You keep being the mom who loves him most — ask him instead: anything fun to tell me today?
I tried it for a month. The change exceeded my expectations —
From "nothing much" to volunteering: "Mom, the teacher taught us a finger game today" and "I raised my hand and answered a question!" He began looking forward to school, instead of fearing the quiz at home.
Advice for Next Year's Parents
If I had one piece of advice: give the anxiety to professionals, and give your time to your child. Of the four gifts, the one I want to pass on most is "tolerance" — children grow at their own rhythm; give them more time.
Be a star-gazer accompanying your child's growth, not an examiner issuing daily tests.
